Centre Information


Central Square Shopping Centre is a regional shopping centre, located in the heart of the Ballarat CBD. Built in 1988, Central Square currently stands at 23,558.00m² lettable area with Myer, Target, Rivers Super Store, and over 40 Specialty Retailers.

The abundance of undercover parking with convenient access is a strength and point of difference, as well as the multi-level shopping. The taxi rank, bus stops and train station are all conveniently located on the Centre’s doorstep. Customer facilities at Central Square include free wheelchair hire and a lost property department. Two parent’s rooms are available within the Centre, together with parents and disabled parking.

Ballarat’s surrounding region (or Secondary Trade area)– comprising the municipalities of Ararat, Golden Plains, Hepburn, Moorabool, Northern Grampians and Pyrenees – has a total population estimated at approximately 106,170.

Access to Ballarat is excellent via four main State highways – the Western, the Midland, the Glenelg and the Sunraysia Highways, which radiate from Ballarat. These highways provide for convenient access from various townships within Central Square’s Secondary and Tertiary Trade areas.
